"Comparatively calm, Mistress Blythe, comparatively calm. She says, says she, `Well, Providence sends seasons of humiliation to a country, same as to individuals. You Grits have been cold and hungry for many a year. Make haste to get warmed and fed, for you won't be in long.' `Well, now Cornelia,' I says, `mebbe Providence thinks Canada needs a real long spell of humiliation.' Ah, Susan, have YOU heard the news? The Liberals are in."
All melting; though our drops this diff'rence bore:
Lilliputian Adventure(no watching ads to get Rewards)
Like almost all forms of entertainment, mobile games are often treated as nothing more than a simple pleasure, or a mindless distraction. Of course, we understand they're are a lot more significant than that. An increasing spate of charitable collaborations and events from publishers like IGG, and FuturePlay, demonstrate the positive impact they can have for the world.

The recent release of Sea Turtle Rescue proves that this conscientious spirit isn't just reserved for big publishers either, but is shared at all levels of the industry. Developed by Canadian based indie studio Simberon, Sea Turtle Rescue is intended to help real life sea turtles by pledging 10% of all its profits to Canadian Sea Turtle Network - a conservation charity from Nova Scotia that helps protect endangered sea turtles throughout the world.
The Travelers and the Plane-Tree
Evolution 2: Battle for Utopia will work fast, with a smooth mix of top-down shooter, action, strategy, and RPG elements! There is a match that forces the player to observe many things at once so as not to cause unexpected death. Also, strategy and fighting style must be predetermined if you want to win most neatly.
[UPDATE: January 2019 appointments now fully booked, sorry! It may still be possible for us to see your game – please come along to the Pocket Gamer Journalist Bar between 2pm and 5pm, on either 21 or 22 January, where we will be accepting walk-up meetings if journalists are available. Alternatively, delegates can request meetings through the Pitch & Match system – or track us down at the actual bar after hours.] If you're a game-maker yourself - and we know many of our readers are - there are a thousand reasons to come to Pocket Gamer Connects in London in January 2019.

The networking, the workshops, the panels and talks, the parties. But if you're a developer working on a game, surely one of the most valuable benefits of being at Europe's leading mobile games conference is the chance to meet the press. That's us!

"Chance"? Why yes, there is usually an element of chance involved. It can be hard to pin a journalist down, even at a venue like PGC. There'll be 2,500 industry professionals there on January 21nd and 22nd. It'll be our biggest ever professional get-together. So our expert writers, editors and reviewers will be extremely busy.
Show us your games
Fear not. We've taken some of the randomness out of it with our Journalist Bar. This fantastic concept was pioneered last year and went down a treat, so we're rolling it out again.

It's not a bar in the booze sense; think "Apple Genius Bar". It's a place to rock up and meet a member of the media. The mornings will be by appointment only, the afternoons will be for walk-ins.
[BOOKING FORM NOW CLOSED]
To avoid disappointment, please make an appointment. Then we can ensure there's a member of our lovely Pocket Gamer team there waiting for you at that time. We want to see new games, and you've got new games to show, so let's schedule it.

If you're unable to make an appointment for the Monday or Tuesday mornings, the Journalist Bar will be open in the afternoons for people to come and say hi. Please note that it will get busy so meetings are limited to 15 minutes. We can't promise any specific coverage following a meeting, but it's a great way to get your project on our radar.
Please note: you also need to be registered for PG Connects, an appointment is not a ticket to enter the conference and does not guarantee entry. Appointments are first come, first served so if you visit that link and there are no available slots... sorry. There will be some walk-in time at the show, with Pocket Gamer staff available on our stand as much as possible. Come by and say hi, you never know, we might have a moment to play your game. If you’re feeling especially confident, you might want to have a bash at formally showing your game to the Big Indie Pitch judges. Hey, you might even be able to contact a member of the press via the event's Pitch&Match system. But that's limited too, and if you can't schedule something, you may just have to try and collar us another time. A TRAVELER hired an Ass to convey him to a distant place. The day being intensely hot, and the sun shining in its strength, the Traveler stopped to rest, and sought shelter from the heat under the Shadow of the Ass. As this afforded only protection for one, and as the Traveler and the owner of the Ass both claimed it, a violent dispute arose between them as to which of them had the right to the Shadow. The owner maintained that he had let the Ass only, and not his Shadow. The Traveler asserted that he had, with the hire of the Ass, hired his Shadow also. The quarrel proceeded from words to blows, and while the men fought, the Ass galloped off.

In brief the grounds and motives of her woe.Gilbert flung himself wearily into the easy chair before the fire. He looked tired. It had not been an easy thing for him to tell Leslie. And the terror that had sprung into her eyes when the meaning of what he told her came home to her was not a pleasant thing to remember. Now, when the die was cast, he was beset with doubts of his own wisdom.
I remember snatches, little moments here and there. The smell of cardboard and plastic; the way the boxes, shiny and slick, rattled while you walked them home. Twisting dials to answer questions and reveal the arcane symbols that would allow you to get to the game stored on those mottled, blue plastic disks. Adventure games were an adventure before you even got to play them. And then there was Beneath a Steel Sky.

The matte black box with the shiny silver detailing, the orange sky when you walked outside. You made maps while I sat next to you, trying to figure out the maze of screens, trying to remember where everything was. I wonder if you still have them? There was a strange, communal humanity to it - like I was watching a film where we both had a say in the ending.

I don't remember if we ever got to the end. You probably did, you were always more patient and methodical than I was back then. You got our dad's problem solving; A to B, and if that didn't work C, and D, and so on. I got Mum's anxious passion, mixed with something from neither of them that had already started scratching, even then, at the back of my brain.Beyond a Steel SkySo what of a sequel? I think this might be the first time that something that holds genuine nostalgia for me in the gaming world has come back round. I know the names, and the beats, of plenty of other games from the era; but reading Alan Moore comics, laid on one of our creaking beds, while you explored a future we'd never imagined before, holds a special place in me.

There are words used to describe the sequel that worry me a little - open world, sandbox - the gewgaws of a modernity that took the grey of Beneath a Steel Sky but none of the joy. In the early days of gaming there was less delineation between playing on your own and playing with friends - we only had one computer, so we took turns. If there was nothing on TV, we'd slip into a different world on the other screen we owned.

Now there's so much demand for entertainment, so many ways that it can be delivered to us; so many screens. The dream is that Beyond a Steel Sky will understand those two boys huddled around a blinking CRT monitor; discussing, suggesting, arguing sometimes when things weren't going their way. It'll understand that the story on those clicking disks was only half of it - the adventure came as much from us as it did the game.
